Description
Captured on 7 February 2022, this high-resolution aerial photograph looks across the Port of Melbourne toward the Melbourne CBD. In the left foreground, the Coode Road rail terminal was under construction as part of the Port Rail Transformation Project beside Swanson Dock East. The project commenced in late 2021 and was then in its delivery phase; it later provided two 600-metre rail sidings plus road and rail changes designed to move more containers by rail and reduce freight truck movements on inner-Melbourne roads. Container operations, the Bolte Bridge and the city skyline place the works within a principal freight precinct for Victoria.
