Description
Captured on 27 August 2026, this high-resolution aerial photograph records the active construction stage of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation in Southbank. Tower cranes, excavation, concrete works and temporary site infrastructure surround the Arts Centre Melbourne complex and its landmark spire. The precinct renewal began with early works in 2022; the former 77 Southbank Boulevard building was deconstructed in 2024, and construction of The Fox: NGV Contemporary commenced in 2025. The broader Victorian Government program will renew the heritage Arts Centre Melbourne Theatres Building, create The Fox: NGV Contemporary, and deliver Laak Boorndap, an 18,000-square-metre public garden with upgraded underground services. The photograph is a useful construction-progress record of one of Melbourne’s major cultural infrastructure projects.
